GLX is still one of the lightest, most sensitive high-performance rods we make. It is noticeably lighter and more sensitive than our IMX and all the other lower modulus materials we use. It has been the cornerstone of our product line for over 20 years. Its high modulus and high tensile strength allow us to use as much as 15% less material than a comparable IMX rod creating a very dramatic reduction in weight and maintaining the same power. This year we have totally redesigned the GLX Series, using a new proprietary reel seat, split-grip handle configuration and Fuji K-Frame SIC guides. The Mag Bass and Spin Jig rods in the classic actions feature full cork grips. Some of the tapers are new as well, improving the rod line across the board. The new GLX has increased sensitivity if you can imagine that! All we can say is... they're amazing!

GLX technology helped G. Loomis to make an unmistakable impression on the angling community. Predecessor to the NRX, the GLX graphite system is a proven high-modulus blend coupled with an incredibly durable resin system. A cornerstone of the G. Loomis family for 20+ years, rods built on this platform are lightweight, responsive, and impact resistant. Providing a unique feel paired with a legendary reputation for durability, the GLX continues provide the benchmark technology suite for countless anglers worldwide.
Since 1982, we’ve pushed the boundaries of manufacturing technology, materials innovation, and product design. That’s why G. Loomis rods deliver superior performance, heightening angler experience and effectiveness on the water. While there are countless examples of this philosophy in action, one technology in particular encapsulates our drive to build the most advanced rods in the world: Multi-Taper Design.
Multi-Taper Design is best described as a series of “micro-tapers” within the overall taper of the rod. This unique, proprietary process allows us to use more material on potential break points and less material everywhere else. To accomplish this, we manufactured a custom rolling table...and it’s the only one in existence today. The result is a catalog of precisely defined actions that strike a perfect balance between durability and performance.
