GLX FLIP PUNCH
Flipping has always been an oxymoron of sorts. It's considered to be a finesse technique, yet it requires brute strength to make it work. The finesse part comes in the presentation. You want your jig or worm to enter the water very quietly because this is close-quarters combat fishing. You need it to drop straight down to make sure you get into the sweet spot next to that pilling, bush, or rock. You need heavy line because you're after big fish and you need a rod with some guts so that when you do get bit, you can literally yank it away from the cover, quickly and with authority. Punching is an entirely different approach. It can require stealth at times, but when the vegetation is really thick, you have to drive a heavy Texas-rigged creature bait or plastic worm through all that just to get to the fish. That's when the front begins! As the techniques evolve and styles change, anglers have discovered they have more control and better accuracy with a fast-action rod with a more dynamic tip, especially when it comes to punching baits through heavy cover or grass. No longer made with an extension handle, these one-piece power-house rods will give you incredible sensitivity, brute strength, and minimal weight, creating more positive control. They feature Fuji guides and blank-thru trigger reel seats for total control! These rods are so light, extremely powerful, and incredibly sensitive! The ultimate rod for fishing heavy cover whether you flip it or punch it!

GLX technology helped G. Loomis to make an unmistakable impression on the angling community. Predecessor to the NRX, the GLX graphite system is a proven high-modulus blend coupled with an incredibly durable resin system. A cornerstone of the G. Loomis family for 20+ years, rods built on this platform are lightweight, responsive, and impact resistant. Providing a unique feel paired with a legendary reputation for durability, the GLX continues provide the benchmark technology suite for countless anglers worldwide.
Since 1982, we’ve pushed the boundaries of manufacturing technology, materials innovation, and product design. That’s why G. Loomis rods deliver superior performance, heightening angler experience and effectiveness on the water. While there are countless examples of this philosophy in action, one technology in particular encapsulates our drive to build the most advanced rods in the world: Multi-Taper Design.
Multi-Taper Design is best described as a series of “micro-tapers” within the overall taper of the rod. This unique, proprietary process allows us to use more material on potential break points and less material everywhere else. To accomplish this, we manufactured a custom rolling table...and it’s the only one in existence today. The result is a catalog of precisely defined actions that strike a perfect balance between durability and performance.
